The Daksha Sheth Dance Company under the Artistic Co-Direction of Daksha Sheth and Devissaro, has won international acclaim for its dance-theatre productions that brings together performing artists from many disciplines - theatre, music, and martial arts as well as dance. Bridging the contemporary and the traditional, the productions of Daksha and Devissaro have their roots in research and training undertaken in the diverse traditions of Indian performing arts practice. For BhuKham, the Daksha Sheth Dance Company comprises five dancers and two musicians playing live on stage.

For many years Daksha Sheth has researched Indian martial art forms such as Mayurbhanj Chhau (from Orissa, East India) and Kalaripayattu (from Kerala, South India), and for this production she has looked particularly at the gymnastic traditions of Mallakhamb from Maharastra (West India). From this she has evolved with her dancers breathtaking rope and aerial skills never seen before. The rhythms of Kathak are also developed in new and surprising ways in Daksha's choreography for BhuKham, and are backed by an exciting musical score devised by Devissaro combining recorded music with live percussion and electric guitar. Together with a striking lighting design, the seventy-five minute production seeks to embrace modern sensibilities and bring contemporary Indian dance appeal to new audiences.
